Barcelona Exhibitions & Galleries in 2026: What's On and Where

By Barcelona ArtWalk · Updated 2026-07-11 · Barcelona · Exhibitions · Galleries

Barcelona's art offer goes far beyond the Picasso Museum queue: as of July 2026 the Barcelona ArtWalk galleries feed tracks 195 exhibitions running across 130+ venues, refreshed nightly. Here's what deserves your time this season — and the layer of free exhibition spaces most visitors never discover.

The big names

The heavyweights all have strong shows on: the Moco Museum is running 'the New FuTure', CosmoCaixa asks 'Extraterrestres. Hi ha vida fora de la Terra?' in its science halls, the Museu Marítim shows 'SOS OCEANS' in its Gothic shipyards, and the Museu de Ciències Naturals runs 'Animals Invisibles'. Add the permanent trinity — MACBA for contemporary art (and the skate plaza in front of it), the Picasso Museum in El Born, and Fundació Joan Miró on Montjuïc.

From the app's live feed: Max de Esteban's 'Tantes històries. Tantes preguntes' at Fundació Foto Colectania, 'PATRIM'25: Mirar en silencio' at Can Framis — Poblenou's contemporary painting museum — and a Corpus procession show at the Museu Diocesà next to the cathedral. A typical Barcelona week runs from photography foundations to sacred art without repeating a neighbourhood.

The civic-centre secret

Barcelona's best-kept art secret is its network of centres cívics — neighbourhood cultural centres from Sarrià to Trinitat Vella that host a constant rotation of free exhibitions: photography, comics, local history, emerging artists. They rarely make it into guidebooks, but they're where the city actually shows itself. Dozens are in the feed at any moment, and entry is free.

Dates to plan around

In August, Festa Major de Gràcia (15–21) turns whole streets into walk-through installations — the closest thing to a citywide exhibition Barcelona does. In late September, La Mercè (23–27) brings open-air shows, projections and museum open days across the city.

How to keep up

Exhibitions change weekly and venue websites are chaos in three languages. The Barcelona ArtWalk Galleries tab refreshes nightly, drops shows automatically when they end, and puts every venue on the map next to the street art, events and walking tours. Free on iOS and Android.

Tip: Exhibitions in the app refresh nightly and finished shows are cleared out automatically — what you see in the Galleries tab is what's actually on.
