One festa hands the city to the next this week. Gràcia's hand-decorated streets come down after tonight — and on Saturday, Festa Major de Sants takes over: eleven streets rebuilt as fantasy worlds, nine days of neighbourhood celebration and hundreds of free concerts, from 22 to 30 August. The Barcelona ArtWalk app tracks all of it live — 360+ events and 380+ galleries and exhibitions right now.

The festa handover
- Festa Major de Sants — 22–30 August, Sants district. Decorated streets, concerts, castells, correfocs. Free.
- Best time to walk the streets is after dark, when the lighting is on and the crowds thin around midnight.
Big nights ahead
- The Weeknd — After Hours Til Dawn at Estadi Olímpic Lluís Companys, Tuesday 1 September. One Barcelona night only.
- Hermanos Gutiérrez — the desert-guitar brothers at the Gran Teatre del Liceu, Sunday 30 August.
- DYSTINCT — Morocco's genre-bending pop star at Opium, Sunday 23 August.
Art to catch before it closes
- Kapwani Kiwanga: Estats canviants — Fundació Tàpies, until 13 September.
- Joaquín Tusquets and Minor White — two photography shows at the KBr Photo Center, both until 6 September.
- Picasso: Mediterranean ceramics — Museu Picasso, until 27 September.
- MACBA Collection: 30 Years — the Raval museum's own history, until 28 September.
- Gaudí–Miró–Gomis: Deconstructed — inside Casa Batlló, daily.

Free this week
- Festa Major de Sants — all nine days, free.
- Mecal Air — open-air short films in the Can Framis courtyard, Friday nights through 28 August, free entry.
- Mercat de la Terra — the Slow Food market at Parc de les Tres Ximeneies, Saturday.
